Staging Tips

Staging is not decorating.  Decorating is optional, staging is mandatory in order to sell the house for the highest return in the shortest amount of time.  Home staging is about de-cluttering and making a home desirable to the masses.

Inside:

  • De-clutter.  Clutter eats equity. Start packing early by removing all personal items such as collectibles, knick knacks, & family photos.
  • Re-arrange or remove furniture. Think open space.
  • Clear kitchen counters.
  • Clean.  Have your home professionally cleaned including the windows and carpets.
  • Paint any room in need of a fresh coat of paint.
  • De-Personalize and neutralize the house.  You want to appeal to the broadest audience.

Outside:

  • Clear extra patio furniture.
  • Clear too many potted plants on patios or decks.
  • Clean up any old barbecue equipment, lawn mowers, rakes, shovels and tools left outside.
  • Clear driveway of any garbage cans or debris.
  • Remove any dead plants and add fresh color and fresh mulch or bark.
  • Clear any miscellaneous debris, wood scraps, & unused materials around the house.

“Clutter eats equity.”
